It started with a simple yet unsettling realization: conventional sanitary pads used by hundreds of millions of women across India are made from petroleum-based plastics that take 500 to 800 years to decompose. Each pad is worn for just a few hours, yet it outlives the person who uses it by centuries.

In 2019, Ms. Chitranshi Baranwal, a microbiologist with deep expertise in bio-materials, began researching alternatives. She discovered that a combination of organic cotton, banana fibre, and aloe vera could produce a pad that was not only fully biodegradable but also softer, more absorbent, and gentler on sensitive skin than anything available in the Indian market.

She partnered with Mr. Paritosh Anand, an IIM Ahmedabad alumnus with 12 years of experience in finance and strategy, who saw an opportunity to build a brand that could scale sustainability without compromising quality. Together, they founded Genie Pads , India's pioneering biodegradable sanitary pad brand built on the pillars of science, sustainability, and compassion.

Today, Genie Pads holds 2 patents, is certified by FDA, GMP, ISO 9001, ISO 10014, ISO 27001, and ISO 14001, and serves both individual consumers (B2C) and institutions (B2B) across India with biodegradable sanitary pads, incinerator machines, and pads vending machines.
